Steve Slocum

Founder & CEO

Steve Slocum is the Founder & CEO of Salaam. Slocum and his family lived for five years (1992-97) in Kazakhstan as Christian missionaries. They experienced the rich Muslim hospitality and bonded deeply with local families. This left a lasting impression.

In the years after 9/11, Slocum watched with concern as Muslims were misrepresented and feared. He authored a book – “Why Do They Hate Us? Making Peace with the Muslim World” – to set the record straight on the peaceful mainstream of Islam. He founded Salaam in 2018 to help bridge the growing gap between Muslims and non-Muslims.

Steve Slocum holds a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and applies his 30+ years of program management experience to lead Salaam full time from his home in San Diego. He is a frequent speaker at community groups, conferences, and churches and serves as an ambassador for the Parliament of the World’s Religions.
